KC Chan, VP from Sunlife Financial, and his colleagues are going to speak
at U of T regarding the actuarial jobs in Sunlife. They will talk about the actuarial position
in Sunlife Financial and their global market. Q&A session will be provided at the end of the seminar. Act club invites every ACT students to join us and explore the industry!

Manulife Scholarship

Manulife scholarship is available to apply now. The scholarship is open to currently 2nd year students who are entering their 3rd year of study from Sep2010 to May2011.

We would like to strongly encourage every qualified student in Act-Sci program to apply, because it will be a good opportunity to earn more credit on your resume, and present yourself to Manulife.

Please notice the deadline of the application is March 12, 2010.

Recent Events

Actuarial Seminar

Speakers from Manulife and E&Y will give a presentation about Canadian based life insurance companies and their business line. It will be a good opportunity to meet the actuarial professionals and learn more about the industry which you are aiming to work for. The duration of the presentation is one hour and a half.

The Excel workshop information:

(Due to limited pace, we will not accept registration for this Excel workshop anymore.)

The main topics that will be covered will be :
- advanced excel functions : vlookup, goalseek, etc. (emphasis will be placed on the ones that are most applicable in practice, at work).
- intro to VBA programming (how to write a macro, etc.)
This course is meant to be PRACTICAL, not theoretical, with the aim to develop proficiency in excel, which is very, very useful in the actuarial profession.

Assignments will be given and marked to test if the attendee is qualified to get a certification when the course is end.

Time and Location: Every Wednesday (Starting from Feb 3rd) , RW 109
Duration: 8 weeks

SOA Outreaching Seminar 

Representatives from the Society of Actuaries had visited our campus on Thursday, Sept. 24 to share information about the profession.
