The Program
The Master's program takes 2 academic terms (from September to May) and students take 8 half-year courses. There is no thesis to be written, but students may replace a course with a research project. Also, up to 2 courses maybe taken from other departments including biostatistics, economics, math and computer science. The PhD program consists of courses, comprehensive exams and a thesis. Applying
To apply, you must apply through the University of Toronto and follow their instructions in sending some documents to the School of Graduate Studies and some to the Department of Statistics. The deadline is January 15. Consult the Department's Application Procedure for detailed information.
Graduate Student Life in the Department
The department of statistics is small enough that you will probably get to know pretty much all the professors and most of the other students, but large enough that it is possible to have events. You can get an idea of what goes on in the department by looking around this website.
